By Air
The Košice Airport is located about 7 km southwest of the center of Košice. Direct flights are avaliable from Bratislava, Istanbul, Kiev, London-Luton, Prague, Vienna, Warsaw. You can also fly to the nearby airports in Budapest and Krakow.
From Košice Airport
Taxi fares to the center of Košice cost about 10 euro ( CTC Taxi +421 905 955 955, EasyTaxi +421 919 333 333, VIP Taxi +421 55 16500, AmericanTaxi +421 908 335 333). We recommend to ask about the price before the ride, and request a receipt. There is also a possibility to use Taxify (EU-based service similar to Uber) in Košice.
The city bus line 23 goes from the airport to the city center once in an hour in weekdays (single ticket costs 0.60 euro from a vending machine or 1 euro on board sold by the driver; for a large baggage another ticket is needed). To get into the conference venue, one should get off at the bus stop "Dom umenia" (Palace of art).
From Budapest Airport
The Budapest Airport is located 265 km from Košice and the journey by bus or an airport shuttle takes 3.5 hours.
- FlixBus departs at 17:20 (electronic ticket from 10 euro)
- Cassovia Expres Shuttle at 4:30, 12:30, 14:30, 17:30, 20:30, 23:55 (35 euro)
- Cassovia Transfer Shuttle at 12:00, 14:30, 17:30. 20:00, 23:55 (35 euro)
Shuttle tickets must be ordered and paid in advance.
Direct trains Hungarian Railways to Košice depart from Keleti railway station at 6:30 and 18:30 (20 euro two-way). The train does not go through the airport; you have to use public transport in Budapest.
From Krakow Airport
The Tiger Express departs from Krakow airport at 7:25, 12:40, 18:15 (from 30 euro)
The journey takes 4.5 hours.
From Bratislava and Vienna Airports
The FlixBus departs from Vienna airport at 16:15 (from 19 euro)
The Eurobus departs from Vienna airport at 9:05 and 21:20 (from 21.50 euro) and from Bratislava airport at 10:15 and 22:35 (from 19.50 euro)
The journey takes about 7 hours.
General information for inter-city transport
Schedules for trains and buses can be found at slovakrail.sk or cp.sk. At the latter web page, you need to switch the language by a flag in lower right part of the screen.
In the city
For transport within the city, you can use the public transport, operated by the company DPMK. The maps and schedule can be found here. A single 30 minutes ticket costs 0.60 euro, a 24 hour long ticket costs 3.20 euro. Another possibility is to use taxi. One way within the city costs from 3 euro (see above for telephone numbers and general information).
