The Extention of Mathematical Institute in Košice has been founded in 1978. Since the very beginning there is a close cooperation with mathematical departments at P. J. Šafárik University and Technical University in Košice. The research actvities focus mainly on algebra, theory of automata and formal languages, logic and set theory, topology, real analysis, probability, and their applications. At present, the following major grants are awarded:

  • Effective algorithms, automata, and data structures
    APVV-15-0091, 1. 7. 2016 – 30. 6. 2020, principal investigator: G. Jirásková, investigators: M. Palmovský, P. Mlynárčik

  • Probabilistic, algebraic, and quantum-mechanical aspects of uncertainty
    APVV-16-0073, 1. 7. 2017 – 30.6. 2021, investigators: R. Frič, J. Pócs

  • Number theory and its applications
    VEGA 2/0019/18, 2018–2021, investigator: R. Frič, DrSc.

  • Descriptive and computational complexity of formal languages
    VEGA 2/0132/19, 2019–2022, pricipal investigator: G. Jirásková

  • Toplogies on functional spaces and hyperspaces
